The San Pedro Haunting

The San Pedro Haunting

Jackie Hernandez's San Pedro bungalow became the focal point of an escalating haunting — disembodied footsteps, strange reddish ooze (later claimed to test as human plasma), flashes of light caught on film, and episodes of violent interaction that drove a local paranormal team into full investigation mode. Andy narrates Jackie’s growing terror as neighbors and a small crew — including Dr. Barry Taft, Jeff Wheatcraft, and others — document everything from camera batteries dying in the attic to a camera being ripped from a hand and a cord apparently choking a team member. Greg serves as the resident skeptic, poking holes and offering everyday explanations (bugs, lighting artifacts, bad filmmaking), while the two trade witty banter as they parse evidence like blurry streaks of light, mysterious smells, and a stove flame that briefly ignites. They walk listeners through specific incidents — Ouija board revelations that name a drowned man, scissors placed under pillows, and a tiny letter catching fire on a burner — and use those examples to question whether the events are supernatural or staged. The hosts also dig into the 1997 documentary An Unknown (credited in part to Jackie Earle Haley early in his career) and critique both the footage and the investigators’ motives, balancing eerie moments with healthy cynicism. Overall, they leave listeners with a clear takeaway: the San Pedro haunting is compelling and spooky on the surface, but riddled with inconsistencies and red flags that make it hard to tell genuine paranormal activity from human error or exploitation.

Takeaways:

  • Andy tells Jackie Hernandez's San Pedro story as a slow escalation from a comforting presence to violent phenomena, including footsteps, objects vanishing, and an old man's apparition in her son's room.
  • Greg stays the hard-line skeptic and repeatedly ridicules the documentary's claims, pointing out weak acting, staged photos, and how easy it is to invent scary details without verification.
  • They describe the investigating team—Dr. Barry and two cameramen—who encountered camera failures, odd lights in photos, and a claimed lab test identifying the ooze as male blood plasma.
  • She and her neighbors experienced sensory details like a rotting-flesh smell and streaks of light; the hosts debate natural explanations such as insects, lighting artifacts, or memory-driven fear responses.
  • The Ouija session supposedly spells out a drowned killer and targets Jeff, but he and Greg highlight how suggestion, coincidence, and confirmation bias can manufacture haunting narratives.
  • The documentary An Unknown Encounter amplifies events with dramatized footage, and the hosts warn listeners to check provenance, collection methods, and named laboratories before accepting sensational claims.
  • Several allegedly dangerous moments—cords in the attic, scissors on a bed, and a small stove fire—are presented, yet Greg argues lack of contemporaneous, independently recorded evidence weakens those claims.
  • Practical takeaway for listeners: they should approach paranormal stories with curiosity and healthy skepticism, asking for raw video, lab names, and alternative mundane causes like bugs, wiring faults, or hoaxes.

Andy

1989. San Pedro, California. Jackie Hernandez hoped her new bungalow would be a fresh start for her and her children. Little did she know it would mark the beginning of her worst nightmare. Jackie, her children, and her neighbors would begin to experience strange phenomena in the home. Disembodied footsteps, vanishing objects. Strange. Ooh. Coming from the walls. One night, Jackie awakens to the sound of heavy breathing from the other room. He walks in to see an old man sitting on her son's bed, staring right at her. The man was wearing a red flannel shirt and looked thin and gray, like a corpse. He looks away in shock, and the man disappeared. Over the next couple of years, with the help of a paranormal investigation team, Jackie would document the happenings as they increase and become more violent. Eventually, the following her and her team to new locations. What entity or entities were haunting this home? What did they want? Sometimes it's better not to ask the questions. Sometimes it's better to not look into the darkness for too long.

Greg

Welcome to the no Such Thing as Ghost Podcast. My name is Greg. You just heard Andy in the intro talking about a woman being stalked by ghosts.

Andy

Yes. This is considered the San Pedro haunting.

Greg

The San Pedro haunting sounds great. If it's your first time listening. I'm a hard line skeptic. Andy, how would you best describe yourself?

Andy

Well, I ain't afraid of no ghosts.

Greg

Oh, awesome. A Ghostbuster reference right off the bat.

Andy

Right off the bat.

Greg

Basically, the premise of the show is I know nothing about the paranormal and I tend to dislike most of it, as Andy has educated me. And so I'm sure he's going to tell me a story that I probably won't like.

Andy

But you all will enjoy it.

Greg

That's good. I'm glad somebody gets enjoyment out of it.

Andy

That's all that matters.

Greg

All right, tell us more about this.

Andy

So Jackie Hernandez, she's 23 at the time. She has a two year old and a baby girl on the way when she's moving into this nice new bungalow. She was recently separated from her husband and she was hoping the move to San Pedro, which is just south of la, was, you know, a way to make a better life for her and her kids. But immediately after moving in, she said she felt the presence. At first it was kind of comforting. Felt like it was a good thing.

Greg

Oh, okay.

Andy

Felt like someone was kind of looking out for. So far, so good. But it doesn't take long to change. There's footsteps, there's weird noises. Objects would disappear and then reappear later on.

Greg

Can I break in real quick.

Andy

Yeah.

Greg

So she already felt a presence. She felt somewhat comforted by it by having this feeling of someone else with her.

Andy

She felt like it was a good thing at first. Like she. She felt like. I don't know if she felt like it was haunted or, you know, or.

Greg

If it just felt like a home, like somebody is there with her maybe. Okay, so hearing footsteps and then hearing noises makes it creepy, but you already anticipate somebody being there, or is it just because it was more. It was more of this gut feeling, and then it became more of reality when she was hearing all these other strange things and had these other strange events occurring.

Andy

I think the way she describes it, it's more of a change in the environment. Like, at first she felt a comforting presence, and then she felt it became more disruptive. Disruptive. A little more threatening, A little more like, not good, I guess, just aggressive.

Greg

Like. Like the footsteps were stopping and.

Andy

Yeah. And at first it wasn't like anything major was happening. It was just noises and then, you know, object disappearing, which, you know, you can write that off to. Oh, well, I just misplaced something, and, you know, I put it over here, but I thought it was over there, you know, so at first it wasn't like, oh, this is nothing serious. You know, it wasn't a big deal. And then it progressed. It progressed. Okay, so kind of think of your poltergeist on things.

Greg

Oh, yeah, we learned about that in an earlier episode about. What was it? Ghost hunting 101.

Andy

Yep. Yep. This definitely seems like a poltergeist because at first it's not much going on, and then we're going to get to some stuff.

Greg

Plugging. Plugging. An old episode. Ghost Hunting 101 is one of her earlier episodes. Andy explains to me the different types of ghosts and what their mos are basically. Right, Right.

Andy

So go back and check that one out.

Greg

Yeah.

Andy

Take out all our episodes while you're at it.

Greg

Yeah.

Andy

So she's not the only one to witness all these things. She invites her neighbor Susan. She comes over, and, you know, they're pretty good friends. She starts witnessing things. She starts hearing the footsteps. She has her babysitter, Chrissy, and some of the other neighbors also say they've seen things in the home. Susan and Jackie concluded that most of the activity centered in the attic.

Greg

Now, because it's the darkest, creepiest place of the house. Right.

Andy

And they're hearing the footsteps from above. The attic is not a room that she uses. It's empty. She's not putting Anything in there?

Greg

No. Storage.

Andy

She's not doing any storage up there. It's basically empty. There, you know, might be a couple of boxes, something like that, but, you know, it's not anything major in there. Now she starts witnessing this strange reddish liquid oozing out of her kitchen walls and the cabinets. And they also trace that back to the attic. It's coming from above. So Jackie decides to go up there. Like I said, it was completely empty. There's nothing. She's looking around in the darkness, and she begins hearing noises behind her. So she turns, and the old man's face is right behind her.

Greg

Oh, God.

Andy

She gets a good look at him this time. She says it's plump or swelled maybe.

Greg

Oh, like decomposing?

Andy

Yes.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

Yes. And this may come up later.

Greg

Gotcha. So you do too much of that. Too much foreshadowing in the show. This may come up later, which means it will come up later.

Andy

Well, what if I'm setting you up for an opportunity where it doesn't come up later?

Greg

That would be stupid, but go ahead.

Andy

It would pretty much be a bad episode. If I'm foreshadowing a bunch of stuff and it doesn't come true.

Greg

I gotta talk about that.

Andy

Well, it might be a good setup, though.

Greg

All right?

Andy

She screams at it and it disappears.

Greg

She screams at it.

Andy

She screams in general, and it disappears.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

And she has no idea what to do at this point. She's starting to panic. She's been documenting all this stuff that's happening, but she doesn't know what to do with it. She's just, you know, keeping notes. And so Susan remembers watching this paranormal show recently.

Greg

Oh, God.

Andy

It's about the hauntings of the Queen Mary. Are you familiar with Queen Mary?

Greg

It's a boat.

Andy

It is. It's a former British ocean liner that is now docked in Long Beach. So it's right near them. So she was familiar with that. It's very haunted.

Greg

Oh, okay.

Andy

You can book rooms, you can take paranormal tours. We'll come back to this. Not today, but another time. And Jackie decides to contact this group from the show.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

The team accepts her invitation and they decide to come and document her experience. This team consists of Dr. Barry Taft. He has a doctorate in psychophysiology, a minor in biomedical engineering, all from ucla, and he's a world renowned parapsychologist.

Greg

Okay, great.

Andy

Do you know what that is?

Greg

Well, paranormal and psychology.

Andy

It's a scientist or researcher who studies alleged psychic and paranormal phenomena that lack accepted explanations in mainstream science.

Greg

Cool. All right. Great. Awesome. Already.

Andy

And he developed the initial protocols and methodologies for what would eventually become remote viewing.

Greg

Oh, okay. All right. Remote viewing. Can you tell me more about. I've heard it. I don't know exactly what it is.

Andy

Well, let's make a pop culture reference. Have you seen Stranger Things?

Greg

Yes.

Andy

That show is somewhat based off sensory deprivation. Yeah. It was basically a government project at one point where you would lock someone in a room. Sensory deprivation, like you said. And they would.

Greg

Is this one of those.

Andy

It's the men that's staring Goats.

Greg

Oh, yeah. Okay. Yep. Where you try to.

Andy

You're trying to see. Your astral projection is another part of it, maybe where you're sending your body out, your soul or whatever, and you're able to see into another room and tell details to whoever's gotcha back with your body.

Greg

Gotcha.

Andy

Yeah. So he developed the original designs for that.

Greg

So Nonsense, but okay.

Andy

Maybe. Maybe.

Greg

Yeah. All right.

Andy

He also had a big case back in 1974 where he study the case of Doris Bither, who claimed to be violently assaulted by an unknown presence. And that case was Adapted into the 1983 film the Entity starring Barbara Hershey.

Greg

Oh, never saw it.

Andy

I also never heard of. I have heard of it. I have not. I don't remember seeing it.

Greg

No.

Andy

It's an extreme case.

Greg

Gotcha.

Andy

So also on his team is Jeff Wheatcraft. He's a cameraman and a photographer. Barry Conrad, he's the filmmaker. Larry Brooks is an artist. And Gary Bohem is another photographer that helps them out occasionally. They first came to investigate and Jeff decides he's gonna go into the attic and take pictures. This is where it seems to be centered around. He's gonna go on up there. After a few moments, he feels a tug on the camera and it's ripped out of his hands.

Greg

Oh, yeah, sure.

Andy

So naturally, terrified, he jumps down out of the attic.

Greg

Did he get any photographs?

Andy

There are photographs. We're going to look at some later, okay? Not right now. There's also a problem. There is a documentary on this that we're going to go to in a minute. So they brought video cameras. They don't work in the attic.

Greg

Of course.

Andy

As soon as you go in the attic, the batteries die. So the only things we have from the attic.

Greg

Well, when you're running a carny scam, you gotta have an excuse for it somewhere.

Andy

Well, the only things we have from the attic are actual photographs of photographs of nothing. Well, we'll get to that. Okay, foreshadowing again. We'll get to that. Okay, so anyway, he panics and he jumps out of the attic. He then takes Barry up with him so they can find the camera. They do find it face down in a box in one corner across the room is the lens. Neither one of them are damaged, but the lens is completely across the room from it.

Greg

Okay, so this ghost knows how to take a lens off a camera.

Andy

And it ripped it violently out of his hands and then took it apart and placed it across the room.

Greg

Gently. Gently. Yes, it ripped violently out of his hands, then gently disassembled as it was. As it would be like a gun. Like where you would be like, oh, eject the magazine. Take the slide off. It's a camera.

Andy

It's like he's doing a test. He's doing a test. How fast can I do it?

Greg

Okay.

Andy

Can I do it before they get back up here?

Greg

I guess.

Andy

Can I place it in this box? Yeah, I did.

Greg

For some reason. Yeah. I could have launched it across the room. If I'm able to violently rip the camera out of there, I could violently rip the film out of the camera. Well, he didn't want to violently throw the lens across the room.

Andy

It's a poltergeist. He's got a build up.

Greg

It doesn't sound like he violently ripped the camera out of his hands, but.

Andy

He didn't destroy anything yet.

Greg

Okay. I don't see what the difference is. I could violently throw the camera across the room. I'm not physically punching the camera. I'm throwing it across the room. I was able to rip it out of his hands, but I can't throw it across the room and break it.

Andy

We didn't want to.

Greg

That's stupid. But go ahead.

Andy

So this is when they try to take the video camera up and doesn't work.

Greg

What year was this again? I'm sorry.

Andy

1989.

Greg

1989. Okay.

Andy

And so they. They get up there and the camera's not working. So they decide to come back down. And as Jeff is stepping down from the attic, he's pushed down from behind.

Greg

Or Jeff is drunk. Couldn't make it itself down the steps.

Andy

Of the well, it's not steps. It's like. It's just the little, like, drop down.

Greg

Oh, you've got to like, put a ladder underneath it.

Andy

Yeah, yeah. It's coming up from the laundry room and it's just a little, little door that opens.

Greg

Gotcha.

Andy

So it's, you know, maybe it just fell. Jeff's not coordinated. Yeah. The activity begins to intensify as they are Discussing what happened. A foul smell, like rotting flesh comes through the attic. Loud footsteps, voices are heard. And Jackie goes to shut the attic door, and it's ripped out of her hands.

Greg

See? Violent. Ripped that out of their hands. I have another question, too. Real quick. Yes, the rotting flesh smell.

Andy

Yes.

Greg

Okay. Because so far on the ghost thing, things that we've covered, there are certain MOs for different kinds of hauntings or spirits that allegedly exist. Where are smells coming into play? How is that happening? Because usually it's what you explained to me. There are different kinds of interactions, which are generally noises and. Or some kind of physical interaction that kind of ramps up. Where does the smell come from? From a spirit.

Andy

This is not one that comes up often, but occasionally you will get a foul smell. Like, I don't.

Greg

But why is that?

Andy

It's something they're projecting.

Greg

And how are they able to project a smell if they're incorporeal or based off energy? Right. Because we had all the big conversation about energy. I'm able to use energy to interact with. With physical things in a physical way. How do I produce a smell?

Andy

I don't know if it's intentional. And this is gonna come back when we get to the end of the story that it may be something that is projected in this instance.

Greg

Okay. If you're gonna go over it, then we'll go over some of that.

Andy

It may connect to something that comes up later.

Greg

Okay, all right, I'll leave it alone.

Andy

But, like, it doesn't come up all the time. Like, that's why you haven't really heard of that. Like, nothing we've covered in the now.

Greg

20 Episodes of doing the show. It feels like the rules are always fast and loose, and we will add things.

Andy

There are some differences in different cases. Like, if there's going to be a. It doesn't matter what we're talking about. Maybe there's a different mo. Maybe there's a different.

Greg

But if there's going to be a method applied to these things. Right. Because we keep throwing out, like, this ufologist and this parapsychologist. We're always trying to put science to it, to legitimize it, but yet it seems like there is no consistent anything. It's just whatever the story requires.

Andy

Well, I mean, does the story require the smell of.

Greg

No, but somebody wanted to put it in there. Like, that's my biggest thing is, like, there would be more consistency to it. And it seems like it's either people piggybacking off of something else in order to have that consistency. Or we just throw everything at the wall to be like, look how creepy this is.

Andy

And there is something we talked about before with. With memory and with. With people's brains. I mean, is it that these people got a negative response and so they contributed a smell to it that maybe didn't? Like, is it memory or is it your brain going, oh, this is a bad situation. I'm seeing things and hearing things, so now I'm smelling things. Is it the human brain?

Greg

Just human brain playing tricks on the whole situation? Some kind of fear response?

Andy

Yeah.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

I don't know. I mean, sounds good. It's hard for me to explain these.

Greg

Things that don't make any sense and are inconsistent as hell.

Andy

Yeah, Granted.

Greg

Yeah, Good.

Andy

Jeff decides to take one more look up in the attic, and this time he sees three flashes of light. And then a dark mass moving across. Flashes of light will come back.

Greg

I'm really getting tired of this.

Andy

This is a consistent story.

Greg

I'm really getting tired of you going. We'll come back to this, but go ahead.

Andy

It's gonna come back right now. I'm gonna continue. Well, I'm gonna come. It's gonna continue throughout the whole story.

Greg

You could just set all the whole thing.

Andy

Well, it's because you looked at me a certain way upon examining the photos. They see a light in one of the photos right before Jeff was pushed. So moments before that, when he was coming down the stairs, there is a light then, too. So we've got consistent flashes of light happening now to add to the smells and footsteps. So a lot of this footage was released. In 1997, they released a documentary called An Unknown the True Account of the San Pedro Haunting. Pop culture reference coming.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

Something I hadn't heard when anybody else has talked about this, credited as a writer and director on this documentary, Jackie Earl Haley.

Greg

Jackie Earl Haley.

Andy

Yes, the actor. Yes, the actor. Apparently, in the late 90s, before he got into acting, he was taking very small time writing and directing roles.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

This is how he broke in before he was Rorschach.

Greg

Wow. All right, cool. Yeah.

Andy

So weird little thing there. Got to drop in my pop culture references. You know that. Now they show a lot of footage of the investigation, including a video of Jackie's gate opening and closing on its own. And there's a whole.

Greg

Jackie. Jackie Earl Haley's Or.

Andy

No, no, no. Jackie Hernandez.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

All right. They did not go to Jackie Earl Haley's house, do any filming. I'm sorry. They didn't care about him at this time. Nobody cared he's writing little cut ins and stuff.

Greg

Yeah, he's punching up the script. Yeah, yeah.

Andy

So the, there's a lot of pictures of strange lights moving into view and streaking across the camera. I know I don't usually count orbs. I don't like orbs as evidence. And a lot of the pictures and videos they show, which I will show you in a second, looks like it could be bugs moving across. They did their homework though. They went and got an entomologist to come in and look at the videos. They had video experts and everything. The entomologist says maybe some of them are not bugs. They don't necessarily.

Greg

Yeah, because a real, a real scientist is going to go, I'm not going to rule all that out, but you're coming at me with this thing and yeah, I'm going to do my best to explain what I can.

Andy

It is unusual because of the amount of photos they have with. If it's bugs, then bugs streaking across. Because you're filming all the time, everybody's doing these things. How often do you get photos of bugs shooting across?

Greg

You know, depends how many bugs are in this lady's house.

Andy

She would have to have an extraordinary amount of bugs.

Greg

I mean she might have had an infestation in the.

Andy

Could possibly account for the smell in the attic. Yeah, but it is unusual. Most investigations you don't see this many.

Greg

Okay, I would love to see this. All right. I just watched a clip from this.

Andy

Documentary which by the way is available. Everybody can watch it free. It's on YouTube, it's on Tubi. Just. You can go check it out too.

Greg

And so I saw some of the. I would, I would describe them as like streaks of light almost. And they did kind of look like, like moths or bugs flying across.

Andy

It does. And I had kind of the same reaction. And if we go back to the entomologist that they got on there, he, he did agree that it looked like that. But he also said, you know, normally when you're looking at a bug and it is flying in front of you, it's not going to in a straight line. It's kind of fluttery and back and forth. And these are more direct, they're more streaks.

Greg

They kind of like if I was to describe them, but like you're looking at a shooting star almost, they go from one side of the frame to the other side of the frame.

Andy

Yeah, it would be right in front of somebody's face.

Greg

Some of them, they highlighted it almost kind of looked like like tracking like from vhs Almost, because I'm going to assume, I'm assuming the equipment they were using at the time frame might have been vhs. But I think another thing is they were using a lot of camera mounted lighting, which does some interesting things. I didn't see a lot of spherical lens distortion which sometimes explains some of those light rays or kind of orbish looking things like artifacts that show up. But I will say that, you know, if you mount a light, a high, a high powered light to the camera and then shoot forward, you're going to get all kinds of weird stuff. So anything, any kind of dust, any kind of particulates, anything that falls from anywhere is going to be super illuminated and look really bright.

Andy

And I don't know how familiar you are with when we're doing ghost investigation stuff as far as the orbs. And a lot of those can be attributed to dust. Like you said, these don't look like a lot of those.

Greg

Right?

Andy

They don't because they, it's generally just floating.

Greg

Yeah.

Andy

Maybe floats off screen, maybe just disappears.

Greg

Dust particles floating around. And they're kind of, they're a little more like it's kind of spread across the frame slowly moving. These are more streaks. It is interesting and I don't, I don't have enough knowledge in order to say exactly what it is, but I mean I also think that it could be, it could be a lot of stuff.

Andy

Yeah, it's. For me, it's just the amount of occurrences that they had and Greg only watched a small sample of them.

Greg

There is even more I did watch in slow motion. Yeah, there were, there, there was a particular shot of one that was in front of the tv. It really looked like it was the body of some kind of bug. Yeah, it really had like, like it really had some mass to it. This, this thing moving across stream. It wasn't, it wasn't. I think they represented more of streaks of light. This thing had mass and it looked like it almost kind of cast a shadow. So it looked like a physical object in the room.

Andy

But. And, but again, yeah, and there's some that, you know, they highlight that are, that look like they're sitting in the room.

Greg

But again you're dealing with low resolution. Again you're dealing with very direct light sources at the thing. So it becomes harder to make out what it is. But yeah, it is what it is. I'm not overly mad about it. I'm not saying that they were trying to necessarily misrepresent something. They were just pointing things out in the frame.

Andy

Yeah, it's something they went back and saw and evidence that they put forth. Whether it's actual evidence or not, who knows?

Greg

Who knows?

Andy

Another thing they did do in the documentary is they did get a sample of the ooze that she saw. They sent it off to a lab at ucla and it comes back and it is blood plasma from a human male.

Greg

I don't believe that.

Andy

I mean, we only have their documentation to show that.

Greg

Yep, I don't believe it. I just. I just patent. I think that's patently false. There's no other way. Is there video of the goo being collected? Is there video of the goo going down the wall?

Andy

There is video in the documentary of goo coming out of a cabinet or something. There's no. There's not them collecting it on camera.

Greg

But I just don't buy that. I mean, I mean, we only have.

Andy

Their word to go on. On this. But that is something that they do state.

Greg

Yeah, I mean, that's stuff that's just. That's in a bubble and represented by,.

Andy

Again, by the people that did it,.

Greg

That have an agenda. You know what I mean? This right here is. To me, we talk a lot about people making money off something. And your point is like, oh, people don't want that negative attention. And it's. It's not necessary. They didn't make any money from it. They didn't write a book about it. This is a crew, right? It has a director, it has a cameraman, it has two photographers. It has. This is a crew. And what their job is, is to their paranormal investigation crew. And how do you make money off that? You don't unless you do very specific things. You make a documentary about it, you write a. Write a book about it, you make a movie of it. And by saying that I collected this at the scene without. Without proper documentation of the collection, without any of these things. This is just an easy way to go, okay? This is how we're going to make our money. That is a cynical way to look at it, because that's exactly how you should look at it. It should be in the most cynical way possible, because blood oozing out of a wall doesn't happen. This is not a Stanley Kubrick slash Stephen King book, slash novel. Like, this is the real world. Blood doesn't ooze out of walls. And if you're going to claim that's what it is, then you better show you collecting it. You better show it oozing out blood. Yeah, and not just say a ucla. UCLA guy. Did they give the name of the.

Andy

Just said a laboratory.

Greg

A laboratory, Yep. So that way you can't track it back.

Andy

He was. Which he was connected to ucla. He was still great.

Greg

That's fantastic. He's just adding legitimacy to his name. Yeah. Yeah. My biggest thing. This is the same way is like. This is the same way as like those. I've said it before, those fake kung fu ads in the back of a comic book around the same point in time. At this point, you can just. Or lying about a military record. You can say whatever you want to say because there's no. There's. There's no Internet. There's no available fact checking. There's no instant fact checking that will happen. You can make any claim you want to. Oh, I fought in an underground fight to the death. Jean Claude Van Damme make this movie called Bloodsport. It is nonsense and people don't verify it. And if it's a good enough story, people will buy it. And that's just kind of what that seems to me. You gotta be a salesman, right? You gotta be a salesman. These guys are trying to make money. How else do you live? You gotta put food in your kids mouths. Man.

Andy

I had no idea we were gonna compare Jackie Hernandez to Jean Claude Van Dam.

Greg

Well, it's just. It's. There it is.

Andy

That's where we're at.

Greg

Yeah.

Andy

So let's go to September 4th. The team is called to the home because Jackie and Susan are having some really ramped up experience.

Greg

Oh, okay.

Andy

The house is feeling very dark. Jeff, Barry and Gary come over as soon as they can.

Greg

Sorry, that made me laugh. Jeff, Barry and Gary.

Andy

Yep, those are the three that showed up. The lights kept turning on and off. The foul odor filled the house. Jackie had a door slam in her face and objects are flying around the house.

Greg

What? Where's the video of that?

Andy

Well, they weren't there yet.

Greg

So when they got there, there was no objects flying around the house.

Andy

Well, I guess not. Just a few nights before, Jackie explains she was awakened by something heavy pressing on her face and preventing her from breathing. So Jeff and Gary decide they're going to go into the attic. They want to investigate again. Mary and Jackie are in the laundry room. The lights begin to flicker. Everyone begins to hear fingers snapping. Susan comes into the laundry room and sees a flash of white light. And they hear moaning coming from the attic.

Greg

What kind of moaning?

Andy

Well, you laugh, but Gary spins around and Jeff is being choked by a cord tied to the rafters hanging off of a nail.

Greg

Now we're trying to make a Movie. Now, we're trying to compete with.

Andy

And I do have a photograph to show you.

Greg

Is it him being hanged by a cord? They took time to take that picture before they cut him down.

Andy

Well, Gary decided to turn around and find out what was going on. He snapped the photo.

Greg

No, no, no. All right, show me this picture. Oh, you mean this guy. Completely and utterly supported by his own body weight.

Andy

He's laying against a nail. He's laying against a rafter, and the cord is attached to a nail in the ceiling.

Greg

No, no. He's completely unsupported by his own body weight.

Andy

He's laying against a rafter.

Greg

No. His feet are on solid ground, but.

Andy

The cord is pulled tight.

Greg

No, this is nonsense. This is garbage. This is 100% garbage. This is somebody trying to make. This is somebody trying to make money. And I can. You just know garbage when you see it, and that is garbage. Man, this is getting more sad as we go. I was kind of. I was kind of. I was kind of okay, and I was kind of like, all right, maybe they're being a little bit genuine. Nah, this is. This is garbage. Now I'm. Now I'm starting to get agitated. That right there has made me agitated.

Andy

Gary runs over and he tries to untie this cord. Yeah, it's got a strange knot in it. He can't get it loose.

Greg

Strange knot. Oh, my God. Yeah.

Andy

Finally he gets it loose and frees Jeff. They had never seen this cord before in the attic. It wasn't around until now. So Jackie's panicking downstairs, finds out what's going on. She hurries her kids out on the porch, and then she runs back in and tells everyone they should leave. I don't really know why she left her kids on the porch, but she did. Kids are on the porch, alone, cares about them. So she comes back out, and the kids are gone. No, no, fortunately, they're still there. But the baby has a weird red something on her forehead.

Greg

No, I don't like this.

Andy

And so that's it for Jackie. She decides it's time to move on.

Greg

That's it for Jackie. CPS is being called because she has a mental illness. Everybody's trying to sell a book here or sell a movie. This is really making me angry at this point.

Andy

Well, she does the right thing, though.

Greg

She gets her kids out of there, away from these. These Hollywood charlatans. The kids probably be away from her because she's trying to make money off of them. I don't like this. I'm getting very. I'M getting very agitated.

Andy

Well, they decide to move three hours away to Weldon, California.

Greg

Cool.

Andy

She gets her a nice trailer.

Greg

Great.

Andy

And everything's fine.

Greg

Like, I don't know who's to blame. I don't know if it's them putting like in rein. This is the other problem with this stuff is this taking advantage of people that might have some kind of, you know, you know, mental condition or illness. And then you gotta get a group of these idiots again. I'm gonna call em idiots. And I'm straight up call em idiots. Because that. This fake hanging has really pissed me off. And so you got these guys that are trying to exploit.

Andy

We'll post that photo. No, I'm just gonna say we're post that photo for everybody else to see too.

Greg

Yeah. Because how stupid it looks. They couldn't even do it very well. And somebody going in and manipulating, slash exploiting this person. If she does indeed have a problem, I don't. I don't know who's worse, her or them. And I don't know whose fault. And I don't know who to blame. Maybe it's everybody. Maybe it's one part or the other party. But whoever it is to blame, just know that I hate you. All right, go ahead.

Andy

Well, everything's calm in her new trailer for a few weeks.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

But then all of a sudden, there's scratches. Scratching noises coming from her shed. You know, the footsteps are back. All kinds of different voices and that kind of stuff. Nothing major, really. Not like before anyway. Until March of 1990, when a bedspread in her daughter's room suddenly catches fire.

Greg

Mm. Okay, That's. We're on a whole. We started off with some streaks of light and some footsteps. Then we go to a guy getting hung in the attic. Cause he's a part of the video crew. And then all of a sudden, her daughter's. Like bed sheets catch on fire. All right, all right.

Andy

And her new neighbors are also experiencing these things. She's got a new babysitter who hears knocking coming from the baby's room, like something's trying to break out. Her other neighbors are moving a TV out of the shed. And the wife screams because she saw something in the screen. Not plugged in. They're moving it.

Greg

Her reflection.

Andy

Well, her husband wipes it off and says, oh, it's just dirt. Wipe it off. No, the old man's face is looking back at him. So the old man is back.

Greg

The old man in the flannel shirt.

Andy

Yes.

Greg

Is in the tv.

Andy

He describes it Jackie.

Greg

So everybody saw Poltergeist. This is what I'm gathering from all this. How do we. How do we make a movie from this?

Andy

Well, nobody went into the light yet.

Greg

Not yet. We got to. Got to. We got a dude.

Andy

We still got a ways to go.

Greg

All right, go.

Andy

So one night, Jackie's had enough. A lot of stuff going on. Again, she calls Barry, tells him everything that's been happening. And Barry and Jeff come over. They film in the shed. They film some interviews with the neighbors for the documentary. We gotta get some more stuff for that. They catch another light coming out of the shed. Possibly a bug, we don't know. Then someone decides, let's get the Ouija board out. Immediately, they start getting results.

Greg

Course they do. Charlatan.

Andy

The spirit is answering their questions.

Greg

Charlatan.

Andy

They start asking who it is. The spirit answers. They were murdered. They were held underwater in San Pedro Bay in 1930. Underwater. Would your face be swollen or.

Greg

Yes, that's the way that works when you drown for a long period of time.

Andy

And your face would go gray, maybe more decomposed.

Greg

I mean, it does that when you die and you've been dead for a while. But, I mean, the bloating is typical. Like, you know, so that connects a little bit and people being in water for a long period of time.

Andy

He then tells them that phantoms fill the skies around you.

Greg

Great. Can I ask a question?

Andy

Of course.

Greg

If he was drowned, why is his blood leaking out of the cabinets and the walls? He wasn't stabbed to death. He's not bleeding upstairs. He was drowned.

Andy

Maybe he wanted them to test his DNA to find out who he was.

Greg

Wait a second. That's a lot of effort. That's a lot of steps for a ghost to go through. Also, this ghost communicating so easily. When before again, In Ghost Hunting 101, you told me a ghost can't write, a ghost can't text, a ghost can't send you an email. Ghost can't do any of these things because a ghost is not able to do that. And then all of a sudden, I've got a ghost putting together an elaborate puzzle in order to find out who exactly is, I guess to solve his murder.

Andy

Well, wait, it gets better.

Greg

Oh, I'm sure it doesn't.

Andy

No, no, it does. Because Jeff asked, why do you have this anger towards me? And it says toward him? Yeah, he's the one that hung in the attic one time, and he pushed him. He pushed him, too.

Greg

What about Jackie?

Andy

Well, apparently, he doesn't like her either.

Greg

He's worried about himself.

Andy

He is very self conscious.

Greg

It's. Yeah, it sounds like. It sounds like one of these arrogant pieces of garbage.

Andy

But the answer they get from the weekend is because you are the likeness of my killer. So Jeff looks like the guy that drowned this man, dad.

Greg

Oh, I don't know. This is garbage. Somebody's trying to. This is just somebody selling something.

Andy

And then someone else asks, is there anyone here you have hate for? Guess what it spells.

Greg

Jeff.

Andy

Jeff.

Greg

Jeff.

Andy

And right after it spells Jeff, he gets pushed out of his chair and thrown into the wall.

Greg

Jeff. I don't like Jeff. I don't like Jeff as a person.

Andy

So naturally, everybody panics and leaves. The session's over 100%. We're done.

Greg

Yeah. Let's take this make believe board game and do make believe stuff with it and make make believe stories with it. And make believe. Hang myself and make believe. Get pushed and make believe. Well.

Andy

And guess what? After this experience, Jackie's experiences start toning down a little bit.

Greg

Oh, because now it's after Jeff. Because Jeff isn't the sequel this time. It's personal.

Andy

Yeah. So it definitely ramps up for these guys.

Greg

Of course it does. Because they gotta sell. They gotta make money.

Andy

They keep getting experiences in their apartment on December 4th.

Greg

I hate these guys.

Andy

Barry, Gary and Jeff.

Greg

I was fine at first. I hate these guys.

Andy

They. They account over 40 different things. Moving or making noises or experiences all in one night.

Greg

All just continuous spaghetti at the wall. What sticks? What's scary?

Andy

I don't know. So at one point during this, Jeff is again violently pushed into the bed. There's all kinds of things.

Greg

Wait a second. But this is a documentary, right? So there is video footage. I want to see the video footage of this nerd being pushed on this bed.

Andy

Well, let's go to the documentary. I will show you what happened.

Greg

Okay.

Andy

And show you what they filmed for us.

Greg

All right. I just. I just. I just. I watched this. This. This part of this documentary. It is one of the worst pieces of acting that I think maybe I've ever seen. It is really bad. These guys don't need to quit their day job. It's. This is horrendous.

Andy

I mean, it's. It's a documentary, so it's not actors.

Greg

Yeah, we know how that works out. Yeah, sure. All documentaries are real.

Andy

So to recount a little bit, you all can once again go watch this for free. It's out there. YouTube and Tubi. Just check it out so you can see what we're talking about.

Greg

What's the name of the documentary again.

Andy

It is An Unknown Encounter. The San Diego Haunting.

Greg

Okay. Yeah, it's bad. I've only seen, I think, a total of 30 seconds of it.

Andy

It's about an hour and 20 minutes of footage and wonderful hosting by wannabe Vincent Price.

Greg

Yep, yep. He was really trying hard.

Andy

Yeah, he's doing it. So anyway, throughout the course of this night, there's scissors placed into Jeff's bed under the pillows. Those are removed. They put those up. You know, lights are coming on and off. They're running through the house, panicking back and forth. They're at one point, they hear a noise in the kitchen, so they run in there. One of the scissors is in the kitchen. There's points where the burner turns on. There's another point where they've turned the burner off on the stove. And a broom is placed on the stove.

Greg

Why?

Andy

It looks like a lot of mistiming by this ghost because the scissors were placed and then later on, Jeff was pushed into the bed, so he missed the scissors.

Greg

And then this ghost is all out of sorts.

Andy

The broom was placed well after the fire was turned on.

Greg

He had a checklist and he went completely.

Andy

He was really trying to just straight up murder these people, especially Jeff.

Greg

But he's just bad at it. Like, okay, I gotta put the. Gotta put the scissors on the bed. Gotta put Jeff in. I gotta push Jeff into the bed. Wait a second. Nope.

Andy

Oh, I took the. They took the scissors. Oh, now the scissors are in the kitchen. Why did I take them to the kitchen? Yeah, I better turn the burner on. Oh, that didn't work. And back and forth. There's a little, like, makeup light that they have. They keeps turning on and off. And they're really fascinated by that. Keep going back and forth to that.

Greg

Idiots are fascinated by, like, simple stuff.

Andy

Then at one point, they do come back to the kitchen. The burner is on, and there's a little, like, letter.

Greg

What?

Andy

On the stove. And it does catch fire. Of course. It's just a little letter, so it doesn't really do anything. It just.

Greg

Was it a letter written by the ghost?

Andy

I'm assuming it was. Dear Jeff, you're gonna die.

Greg

I hate you. Why'd you move the scissors?

Andy

Why do you look like my killer? Who is your father? Why did he kill me?

Greg

Who's your daddy? And what does he do?

Andy

Yes. Anyway, it ramps up considerably this night. And then, guess what?

Greg

It ends.

Andy

It kind of dies off.

Greg

Oh, yeah.

Andy

A little bit of spooky acting.

Greg

They kept Foiling his plans. They kept finally scissors.

Andy

He finally gives up on murdering Jeff and he retreats, I'm assuming, back to San Pedro Bay.

Greg

He realized Jeff wasn't worth it. Jeff sucks. This is a waste of time.

Andy

This guy's not.

Greg

Yeah, he's a bad actor.

Andy

I can't do it. Nobody, Nobody's noticing this.

Greg

They all suck at everything.

Andy

They couldn't even get the real Vincent Price.

Greg

Yeah, they're just bad at what they do.

Andy

Lots of things. Problems everywhere.

Greg

All right.

Andy

But a good, spooky, haunting, I guess. Spooky season.

Greg

Spooky, spooky times.

Andy

And I thought it.

Greg

I thought it sucked real bad. I was okay. I was okay early and I was like, okay, so there's some unexplained stuff happening. Then all of a sudden, these guys, these again, I'll call them charlatans, want to come in and be like, gary and Jeff, Barry, Gary and Jeff. I hate them. And I don't. I don't like anything about them. I thought their acting was bad. I thought the cinematography was horrible. I thought the audio was okay. But other than that, I give, I give that one star. I give it a one star out of five star.

Andy

But what you should do, though, is for us, you should go and whatever app you're listening to us on, you should give us a five star.

Greg

Exactly.

Andy

That's all we accept here. Well, I mean, we do some one star work, especially Greg, but we would appreciate a five star rating.

Greg

And tell your friends. Spread the word. Get people listening.

Andy

Get it out there.

Greg

We appreciate everybody that's listening right now, like we really do. It's really great. Yep. And we appreciate it especially, you know, putting up with, you know, with my shenanigans and Andy's garbage stories, my wonderful.

Andy

Stories, which you can get more of if you go to our website, no.

Greg

Such thing as Ghost Show.

Andy

And share what you think. Share your stories by clicking on the microphone.

Greg

Yep. You can tell us a story there. And of course, I'll use my cynical analysis in order to try to debunk it or just talk smack about it. It's just the name of the game. It's the way it is.

Andy

It doesn't sound like it, but it's all in good fun.

Greg

It is. It really is. At the end of the day, you.

Andy

Can also get a T shirt or a hoodie there.

Greg

That's right. We've got no such thing as ghost logo T shirts and hoodie.

Andy

I'm wearing one, right?

Greg

Oh, no, I'm not. I don't have it on.

Andy

Good job.

Greg

And then TikTok. What is that?

Andy

No such thing as ghosts.

Greg

Instagram?

Andy

No such thing as ghost. Pod.

Greg

Facebook?

Andy

No such thing as ghosts.

Greg

That's it.

Andy

Gmail. No such thing as ghostspodmail.com.

Greg

Yep. And send us whatever you like. It's great. It could be constructive criticism. I don't care. It's fine. Say I hate.

Andy

Probably will be, because Greg sucks.

Greg

I hate Greg.

Andy

I hate Andy. No. Nobody hates me.

Greg

Let's get out of here. All right, well, that's it. This is the beginning of the spooky season.

Andy

Well, we're in the middle of it. We're in the middle of spooky season,.

Greg

So. Yep.

Andy

See you next time, Stone.
